History
Tabacón Resort opened to the public in April, 1993. During its first four years, it served as a tourist destination receiving visitors for the day.
This contributed to the development of the Arenal/Fortuna region as a national tourist destination. Toward the end of the 1990s, the region became the second most visited area among international tourists traveling in Costa Rica.
